When the trooper walked up to the car he said there was thedistinct smell of marijuana.
But he also heard a sound described as a thumping. It wasthree kids, an 8-year-old girl and a pair of boys 7 and 5. They were in thetrunk with the family dog.
Troopers say that Boyle and her fiance Aaron Johnson neversaid their children were in the trunk and when the little one's were found theyclaimed they climbed in.
But troopers say there were no car seats and no room for thechildren, who fortunately were found in time.
"At this point their health and welfare is what concernwe want to get them to a safe place. As a trooper that is gratifying rightthere...that is what lets me sleep at night to do something like that,"said Trooper Keith Leary.
Troopers say the kids said they hadn't eaten since the nightbefore. A sergeant went and bought them lunch before they were turned over tochild protective services, and the mom and her fiance were carted off to jail.
