Little London Girl Lyrics - Greyson Chance

To contact us Click HERE
[Verse 1]
I shut the door
And I step outside
It's close to midnight
And the fog is in
And the street lights

With the sound of Big Ben
It reminded me
It was only yesterday
When we first met in that cafe
And our worlds entwined.

[Chorus]
Ooooh don't you know?
I'm gonna shout it from the rooftops now, baby
I'm ready to go.
Ooooh don't you know?
It doesn't matter if the sun is going down on me
You light my world
My little London girl.

[Verse 2]
Sunglasses on
You take me to Camden Town
As you share your headphones
With the Kinks and the Rolling Stones.

As you walk around
In your leather boots
All the boys are staring
But you're not caring
'Cuz you're so rock and roll (so rock and roll)
Woahhh...

[Chorus]
Ooooh don't you know?
I'm gonna shout it from the rooftops now, baby
I'm ready to go.
Ooooh don't you know?
It doesn't matter if the sun is going down on me
You light my world
My little London girl.

(Yeah) You light my world (x5)
... worlddd
Ooooh don't you know?
We're gonna shout it from the rooftops now, baby
Are you ready to go?
Ooooh don't you know?
You light my world
My little London...
Girlll don't you know?
I'm gonna shout it from the rooftops now, baby
I'm ready to go.
Ooooh don't you know?
It doesn't matter if the sun is going down on me
You light my world
My little London girl.

Greyson Chance recently chatted it up with Clebuzz about his new single Unfriend You, his mentor: Ellen Generes, music and much more! The interview was done by Wes Ferguson of Celebuzz.com.  We’ve gone through and picked out some highlights from their Q&A session. You can checkout the complete interview here
Has anyone ever unfriended you?“I have been unfriended many of times. The inspiration comes from me being unfriended and I am unfriending someone myself. It is a double-sided story. This is one of my favorite records, because I just launched a website called unfriendyou.tv where it shows different types of people around Hollywood if they have ever been unfriended. What is so great about this record is it is a fun break up song.”Are you forced to keep a lot of secrets now that you have so much going on?“During all this, I like to keep secrets about some stuff. Even before I go on stage I have a special piano that I designed covered in words and songs. Even before the show I have it covered in a curtain. I don’t even want the crew to see it until the show goes on.”How have your friends and family reacted to your stardom?“My family is so supportive of all I do as well as my friends. I am always visiting home and they always are there when I need them.”You have an older brother and older sister who are also musicians. Did they come into the studio when you were recording?“They did not. My older bother and sister are in college and stick to themselves.Complete interview here.

Greyson Chance out-"Paparazzi"-ed Lady Gaga last year when the YouTube video of him performing the Gaga hit went viral. Tens of millions of views and one brand-new record deal later, Greyson's now releasing his own album, Hold On 'Til The Night, and he's currently out on the road to promote it. Oh, and he's only 13. IDK what to tell ya, everyone else -- get better at stuff.Greyson stopped by Buzzworthy HQ to answer a couple questions, and also sit in front of a yellow backdrop and look totally adorbz. When asked about his fan base and the kinds of people who show up to his shows, it turns out young Greyson is kind of a cougar magnet. But he's not complaining. It sounds like the younger ones are a little more zealous about their fandom, though: "They sometimes knock on the door [of the bus] like, 'Hey, it's your manager. Answer! Birmingham AL police officer charged in arsons www.privateofficer.com

To contact us Click HERE
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama May 26 2012-- A Birmingham police officer has been arrested in connection to a recent series of Warrior arsons, said Warrior Fire Chief Clay Neely.

Curtis Thornton, a resident of Dana Road in Warrior, has been charged in connection to at least two recent arson fires in Warrior, Neely said.

Specifics of those charges are not available, but they are felonies and have been turned over to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

There have been five fires in Warrior since late April and Thornton has been the suspect for some time, Neely said.

One was set in an abandoned mobile home that had already been damaged by a previous fire. The other one was set in an out building, Neely said. All of the Warrior fires were set on property adjacent to where Thornton was staying on Dana Road.

Neely declined to say if the case was connected to a series of arsons in Birmingham.

"I don't know what Birmingham is charging him with," Neely said.

A press conference has been called for 3 p.m. at the Birmingham Police Department. Capt. Henry Irby said officials will discuss a joint investigation with Warrior Police and Fire and the State Fire Marshal's Office, but declined to provide additional information.

A spokesman for the state fire marshal's office said he could not provide additional information.

Thornton is a 2009 graduate of the Birmingham police academy.

West Precinct Capt. Jerry Wiley said Thornton works the morning shift, but he did not know the officer well.

"We're all shocked and surprised," Wiley said. "We investigate criminals, sometimes they wear blue uniforms."

A cancellation and a correction

The Bomber Band will not be performing at this evening's home football game. This decision was made after Mrs. Slavny and I observed a large green blob, approximately the size of Rhode Island, heading directly toward us. (It was on a weather map, in case there was any confused panic.) It's nice to get the evening off, but it's quite disappointing to keep preparing for an event that seems as though it will never come. I'm not, however, prepared to risk significant damage to students' instruments. The pep band will be playing at some other athletic and school events through the school year.

Also, the newsletter that was recently sent home has an error throughout it... the Motown Concert will be Thursday, November 12, not Friday the 13th as published in the newsletter. (Darn that curse!) Most of the students involved in the Motown Concert are also involved in Veteran's Day events on the 11th through choir or drumline... Mr. Polvino and I will be providing pizza for lunch, and we will then have our Motown dress rehearsal in the afternoon of the 11th instead of coming in for an evening rehearsal.

Important Information for You!

This will be sent home on a postcard in the next couple of days, but here it is now...

Music College Fair
Lucky for us, the national Music College Fair is held 10 minutes from here. It will take place Wednesday, November 4, 5:30-7:30 pm at the Eastman School of Music. More than 60 music schools, universities, and conservatories will be represented, and students will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with admissions reps. I strongly recommend The University of Michigan and Eastman. For more info, visit http://www.esm.rochester.edu/apply/college_fair.php

Concert Date Correction

The Sounds of Motown concert is Thursday, November 12, not Friday the 13th as stated in the Music Notes newsletter that went home recently.

Motown Dress Rehearsal
Most of the students involved in the Motown concert are also involved in the Veteran’s Day events on the morning of Wednesday, November 11 (there is no school that day). Mr. Polvino and I will be providing pizza for lunch for all Jazz Band and Select Choir students at 12:00. We will begin our dress rehearsal promptly at 12:30, and hope to be done by 3:00 pm.

The Lunch Bunch, Clean Instruments, and Gross Stuff
I’m proud of how many students have chosen to be in HS band this year despite it costing them their lunch period. This scenario does bring with it a new set of problems, however. When I was in school, my band director made it clear how absolutely terrible it was to play your instrument after eating food. A swimming rule was encouraged—don’t play within 45 minutes of eating—but he was so scary on this point that I always felt it would be much more horrible than just ruined equipment if you blew food into your instrument. That it would be something that might actually trigger the apocalypse, like the Ghostbusters crossing their streams. But I digress… Due to scheduling, we now have a number of students not only eating just before, but during the time that they’re playing. Parents, please be sure that your child has a new swab (woodwinds), cleaning snake (brass), mouthpiece brush, etc. If you go to any of our local music stores, they will have what you need.

Reeds for Woodwind Players
Quality reeds in good condition are essential to the success of saxophone and clarinet players. Students should have a box of 10 reeds (5 for large instruments), and they should rotate these by numbering each reed. Reed strength should be at least 3/medium and should be of a quality brand: LaVoz, Mitchell Lurie (clar), VanDoren, and Rico Royal. We should avoid Rico (the orange box) and store brands.

Celtic on iTunes!
Celtic’s 2008 release, The Devils of Dublin, and 2003’s Color Blind are now available on iTunes and other major digital outlets. We still have CD’s available at the school and through some area stores. For more info or to link to online music stores, go to http://www.celticmusicsociety.org/devils.htm.

Reminders for this week...

First, congrats to Celtic on an absolutely terrific performance Saturday night.

Wednesday: Drumline meets at Village Hall @ 10am, marches to the gazebo at 10:30. Dress: Jeans and  the Bomber Band t-shirt with something warm underneath. If that won't work, wear something that says ER. It should be beautiful, but just in case it's pouring rain... if East Rochester's Veterans march, so do we.  JH/HS Jazz Band 12pm pizza lunch at ERHS; dress rehearsal for the Motown concert follows. Expect to finish *definitely in time for dinner*; but hopefully around 3:00 if all goes well.

Thursday. Motown Concert, 7pm at The Auditorium. Performers set on stage by 6:00, doors open 6:30. Dress: HS Jazz boys - Tuxedos (with black shoes and black socks); JH Jazz boys - black dress pants, white shirt, tie. Girls, we'll talk.

The End of March & the 3rd Quarter!

Hello everyone,

First of all, I have to admit to being a bit of a blogging slacker these past few months. In an effort to continue to improve communication with parents, I am planning now to put up a minimum of one post per week on this blog which will cover important upcoming events and information, as well as other topics that are important for parents to know.  If you are reading this in an e-mail and haven't visited the blog, it is at http://gowmanmusic.blogspot.com/. From now on,  I will be posting the lesson schedule on the ERHS Instrumental Website at http://www.gowmanmusic.com/. If you are reading this in an e-mail, I have attached the lesson schedule. If not, I will have it uploaded to the website tonight.Second, I want to congratulate all of our students on excellent concerts throughout March - Music In Our Schools Month - including An Irish Evening, the 2010 Kaleidoscope Concert; the Elementary Prism Concert on March 23; and Celtic Music Society's multiple St. Patrick's Day Events, including the performance and live album recording in Corning on March 19.
And now on to business...

The end of the quarter is coming up soon... next Friday, April 9, to be exact. Most of our students are doing very well since the introduction of SmartMusic at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. Students are practicing more, playing better, are better prepared on their music, and are more invested in what we are doing. No, it's not the case with all, but it is the case with most. Many of our students will also be seeing an improvement in their grade... In HS Band, for example, better than 75% of students currently have an A or a B, and almost all of the rest can get their grades up there by completing late assignments. I want to be clear... Any late SmartMusic assignments can still be completed for full credit until the end of the quarter. Students who are unable to complete the assignments at home need to make arrangements to complete them here at school. My office computer is available before school this Wednesday, after school every day this week, plus nearly any time during the school day (if I have advance notice). Next week my computer is available after school Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, before school Monday and Wednesday, and nearly any time during the school day. You and/or your child should make an appointment with me to complete this work.
As always, if you have any questions, I can be reached at 248-6344 or mark_gowman@er.monroe.edu.

LITTLE LONDON GIRL REVIEW

To contact us Click HERE
Greyson’s new song Little London Girl got four out of five stars in this review:

  1. With the release of his debut album, ‘Hold On ‘Til the Night,’ right around the corner Greyson Chance is giving his fans yet another dose of new music with the release of his brand-new track ‘Little London Girl.’ Just like his song ‘Heart Like Stone,’ Chance is offering a free download of ‘Little London Girl’ to his fans through the site WeeWorld.
  1. In the song ‘Little London Girl,’ Chance channels his inner Bruno Mars, singing over a breezy, light-hearted beat about a rock ‘n’ roll beauty that stole his heart in the English capital. In the chorus, Chance sings, “Ooh don’t you know / I’m gonna shout it from the rooftops now, baby / I’m ready to go / Ooh don’t you know / It doesn’t matter if the sun’s going down on me / You light my world my little London girl.”
  1. Since Chance is still very young at only 13, it may be hard for older audiences to overlook his age and take a love song from such a young’n seriously — not to mention that his voice is still reaching maturity. With that being said, however, his voice still has the ability to reach a falsetto range that would make most singers jealous, and his comprehensive vocal and musical abilities cannot be denied.
  1. Overall, ‘Little London Girl’ is a breath of fresh of air in the world of computerized pop tracks. Chance’s organic musical abilities shine, and it is refreshing to hear him step outside of the comfort zone of his piano to take on a more guitar-driven track. ‘Little London Girl’ is fun, happy, and great to sing along with, especially when Chance belts out the “ooh’s” in the chorus.

Woodwinds!

To contact us Click HERE
Two brief announcements first... as always, this week's lesson schedule can be found on the ER Instrumental website at http://www.gowmanmusic.com/. If you don't want to search for it, there's a direct link here. Second, our next Coffeehouse is scheduled for Thursday, April 15 after school. Parents of woodwind players, please read on!

A woodwind instrument (flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone) is a complex device. As most of you know, it is expensive to purchase, and can be expensive to maintain. The simplest thing you can do to extend the life of the leather pads on your child's instrument (one of the more expensive common repairs) is to be sure your child owns and uses a swab on the instrument each time it is played. This removes the moisture from playing, and is especially important for our high school students who have period 5 or no lunch and eat just before or during band.

I strongly encourage you to also purchase one of these furry things that go by various names... PadGard, StuffIt, etc. These continue to wick moisture away from the pads while the instrument sits in the case. They have them for mouthpieces and sax necks as well.

Reeds: Reed players should have a minimum of three good reeds at all times. Clarinet, alto and tenor sax players should start the school year with a box of ten; larger instrument and double reed players  (whose reeds are much more expensive and slightly more durable) should have a box of five. These reeds should be numbered with a Sharpie or pen (on the bottom near the maker's stamp) and should be rotated every time the instrument is played. This will extend the life of the reeds and ensure that the reeds are in similar condition.

Reed Selection: Students in grades 7-12 should use a reed that is at least strength 3/medium. Many of the common reed brands are actually owned by the same company, with the brand name telling you the quality of the reed. Common brands that students should use are VanDoren, LaVoz, Mitchell Lurie (clarinet only), and Rico Royal. Please avoid the standard Rico reeds (in the bright orange box) and the store brand.

If  you have any more questions on this, please let me know!

This Thursday is the return of Acoustic Coffeehouse! 2:45 in the HS bandroom.
Brass players (and parents of brass players): The inside of a brass instrument is a truly disgusting thing. But it doesn't have to be. And it shouldn't be. To keep your instrument in good working condition, and to avoid, oh, say, mold growing on the inside of your instrument, it should be given a bath. You will need a "snake" and a mouthpiece brush, which are a couple of basic tools that together cost less than $10. For instructions on cleaning your instrument, click here. Any questions, let me know!

Greyson Chance ‘Hold On ‘Til The Night’ Song Meanings

To contact us Click HERE
Greyson Chance told us in his own words what each song on his debut album, Hold On ‘Til The Night means to him.Below you can read a short summary for each song on the ablum including: Waiting Outside The Lines, Unfriend You, Home Is In Your Eyes, Hold On ‘Til The Night, Heart Like Stone, Little London Girl, Cheyenne, Summertrain, Stranded and Take A Look At Me Now. The summaries are in Greyson’s own words.

Waiting Outside The LinesWaiting Outside the Lines is a song about getting over your troubles, fears, and anxieties. The main theme of the song is just to be confident and free! I remember when I first heard the song I instantly loved it. I really liked it ‘cause it was very universal and big. I love performing this song at my live show because all the kids wave their hands back and forth. And there’s always the one person with a lighter! This is one of my favorite records from the album.

Unfriend YouUnfriend You! There is a pretty funny story to making this record. When I first heard the song, I just laughed! I thought it was the most brilliant and simple theme to a pop song. The idea of breaking up with someone and ‘unfriending’ them was gold. So I went into the studio and recorded it. I worked with the legendary Billy Steinberg for the first time on this song, so I went into the studio not really knowing what to except. Once I started to sing Billy kicked his head back and said, “Whoooo, this boy can sing! We’re going to make a lot of money!” From that day on Billy was one of my favorite producers to work with! He is a great friend.

Home Is In Your Eyes“Home Is In Your Eyes” is the story of me missing a girl when I’m away from home. When this all started, I was traveling so much that I was really missing my friends, and a certain girl. So I went into the studio and put all my emotions into this record. It’s very calming and peaceful, listening to this album relaxes me. My favorite line from the song is the opening from the chorus, “I wanna be holding your hand in the sand by the tire swing.” I think that line is brilliant. This song puts a very peaceful and emotionally touch on the record.

Hold On ‘Til The NightThis song is very meaningful to me. When I went into the studio to write this record I was kinda sad. I was away from home, missed my friends, and I needed some courage. So I went into the studio and told myself that I was going to write a song that was about gaining confidence. And this was the result. I love the lyric, “Running to the light, get out of your own way, not afraid to fight, believing what you say.” I am telling my fans to not be afraid. Whenever I listen to this song I instantly feel happy and strong.

Heart Like Stone“Heart Like Stone” is one of my favorites from the album. I wrote this song with one of my favorite people to collaborate with, Danielle Brisebois. I met Danielle at her studio which is inside of her house. I wanted to write a true heartbreak song that really describes the emotions of that feeling. At the time I was going through something rough and it just felt like my heart was lifeless like a stone. I also wanted my fans to be able to relate to this song, and everybody can relate to the concept. So we went into the studio and wrote this song! I really like the vocal on this song, it is a little more edgy then most of the vocals cut on this album. I hope all my fans can relate and dance to this song when they are sad.

Little London Girl“She lights my world my Little London Girl!” This song is a very fun and upbeat record. When I was on my first trip to London for promo, I had some studio time booked. I loved London a lot, it gave me a fun rock ‘n’ roll type of vibe. It was always raining and cloudy and to be honest, on the verge of being depressing. So I wanted to make a song that shone through all the clouds and the rain. The original idea was, “You light my world my little American girl.” But I wanted to make something about the magical city of London. This song is about meeting a girl in London who is very rock ‘n’ roll. She is wearing leather tights with Ray Ban’s on, that type of girl. London is such an amazing city and I wanted to highlight it with this song!

CheyenneThe next song is Cheyenne. This song is very close to my heart. I love this song cause it is the most soulful one on the album. I always love how the lyric is very simple. “Please don’t break my heart, Cheyenne” Pleading to this girl that I love for her not to break my heart. One of my favorite things from this song is the fact that we recorded live strings. It was so much fun watching a cellist come in and play from his heart. This song is probably one of my favorites from the whole album.

SummertrainThis has a very European feel so it stands out from the other songs on the album. This song has a very calm and peaceful feeling, and it is very relaxing. I love the lyrical message behind Summertrain. The song is all about not being afraid and just taking things easy and being relaxed about the punches that come with life. I sometimes get very stressed about work, home, and sometimes love. This song is very inspirational to me because it can always take me to a different world. I hope you enjoy as much as I do!

StrandedSong number 9 is called Stranded. “I wanna be stranded on this island with you!” is the the first line of the chorus. This song starts off nice and fun with a cool beachy vibe and some cool guitars. I love this record because I love the beach. This song was inspired by the ocean and the feelings of hanging out on the beach in LA. When we were recording the album I was living in a house right off the ocean, so I took all the surroundings around me as inspiration. The type of people, the glamour, and the beach. I really like singing this song because I have room to go anywhere with it!

Take a Look At Me NowThe last song of the record is Take A Look At Me Now. This song is very special to me. It holds a certain part of my heart. I wrote this song about the relationship between me and my fans and how we have grown so much. I remember when I had 5 people in my meet & greets, and now I had one the other night with 5,000! This song is telling all the people that didn’t believe in me, and doubted what I was capable of, to take a look at me now. This song is always for all my fans. When I wrote this I pictured me and my fans just running away together and leaving all the haters and doubters behind. This is the last song of the record and I believe it ends “Hold On ‘Til The Night” quite beautifully.
