Argument-resolution theory

When I have arguments with Wendy, I usually get an intense feeling of happiness after we've made up, and I sometimes feel, as if we're even happier than we were before we started arguing. I'm not sure if this is just my perception, or if it's common among people. If the latter is true, it makes me wonder: Do people, consciously or not, instigate arguments simply to feel the high of happiness after they are resolved? (It is also possible, perhaps, that the feeling of being happier than before stems from having a sudden change in emotion, which, relative to the low state during the argument, is very high (similar to how it feels like driving the normal speed on a road is much faster after you're no longer stuck behind a slow driver (emotional velocitization, if you will)).) This seems like it could account for a lot of the big arguments over ridiculous little things that happen between people.

Disclaimer: Although I am a psych major, I have as of yet only taken 101... I imagine I'll learn how much truth is behind this once I've progressed further in my studies.
